About The Author
I am an Anishinaabe/Ojibwe (Bear Clan) artist and content creator, and an Indigenous follower of Jesus. My faith journey has been shaped by God’s steady goodness, His mercy in seasons of searching, and His gentle pursuit of healing through both Scripture and Creation.
For many years, I have worked alongside Indigenous communities in areas related to land-based education, cultural revitalization, herbal medicine, and more recently, Truth and Reconciliation initiatives across Canada. As the grandchild and child of residential school Survivors, I carry a deep responsibility to honour their stories. I have been blessed by countless conversations with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Holders, and Matriarchs whose wisdom has helped me understand both my family’s experiences and the wider impacts of colonialism.
As I studied these histories and walked with Survivors, I felt a profound tension between the Western church’s theological framing and Indigenous experiences of harm. This tension led me into prayer, Scripture, and a long season of asking God hard questions about justice, healing, culture, and the legacy of residential schools. I continually return to James 1:5–6: “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God… But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone.”
This ministry grows from that seeking — trusting that God does not rebuke honest questions, but meets them with wisdom.
Why the Name Land Back Ministries?
The term Land Back is sometimes misunderstood as solely political or about the return of property. In Indigenous worldviews, however, land is much more than territory — it is identity, teacher, sanctuary, and the place where God reveals Himself through Creation. Our Elders say that Creation carries Spiritual Laws, Natural Laws, and Human Laws established by the Creator. Walking in right relationship with the land draws us closer to understanding who God is, what He has entrusted to us, and how we are meant to live in harmony.
Scripture affirms this sacred relationship: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” — Psalm 19:1
For me, Land Back is not a political slogan but a spiritual return — a return to relationship with the land in ways that honour the Creator; a return to balance; a return to the healing that has been disrupted by 500+ years of colonial harm. It is an invitation for Christians to see Creation as a living testimony of God, and to recognize that reconciliation is not only between peoples, but also with the land God made and called “very good.”
Through Land Back Ministries, I help churches, faith communities, and Christian organizations grow in understanding of Indigenous teachings, the history that shapes today’s relationships, and the shared calling to steward Creation with humility, courage, and love. My work is guided by the conviction that relationship must always come before teaching — and that when we listen deeply, both Indigenous and Christian worldviews can illuminate each other in meaningful, Christ-centred ways.
